Singers who would like to be considered for the ensemble should have choral singing experience, sight-reading skills, a blending voice, the ability to learn their voice parts on their own, and to have their notes learned before the first rehearsal. You can find out more about how Amuse works by reading the Expectations of Singers. Auditions will held throughout the year as needed to fill openings. Please contact Lee Ryder to schedule a time.
Auditions include sight-reading, pitch memory exercises, reading a series of rhythmic exercises, vocalizing, preparing and singing the piece at the end of the audition form. While there are some opportunities to do solo work, you do not need to be a soloist to sing in this ensemble. We are looking for good choral singers with solid skills and willingness to do the work.
If you are interested in auditioning, please review the materials on this website to better understand what we are looking for in singers who successfully audition for the ensemble, especially the Reheasal Schedule and the Expectations of Singers. There are five scheduled rehearsals in the two to three weeks prior to each concert to work on ensemble, blend, balance, diction, and interpretation. It's hard, it's intense and it's great fun if you love this sort of thing.
For additional information on the group or to schedule an audition, please email Lee Ryder. Once an audition has been scheduled, please download the audition forms, fill them in and bring with you to the audition.
Singers are also asked to volunteer for various tasks that go into making each concert a success. Singing in a small ensemble is a great challenge and it has lots of rewards for those willing to put in the effort.
